The narration was good, high quality like all audible originals I’ve tried, though not as intense or showy as some others.
It’s got the noir vibe, with the lone guy, good at his job doing things that other frown on, who has to solve a mystery, involving some shady characters. It’s less humours than would have expected from Scalzi, but that’s not a flaw just a disclaimer.
I didn’t read the blurb, so I went in blind, and it was really fun puzzling out the world building that way. I recommend it, so I’m not gonna say much. The story is such that you only get the blurb info a bit further down and spend about half an hour thinking what the hell is up with this?
The plot was good, engaging, condensed and interesting, short reads are really starting to grow on me, thanks bingo!
I was looking at other reviews and some people mind that the ending doesn’t give an answer to the big worldbuilding question that obviously arises, just to the in story mystery. Though I’d mention that as a heads up to help with setting your expectations. I didn’t mind it, I would have liked to know, but I didn’t think it was novella length question.
