The story is a sort of Alice in Wonderland, only it’s a land based on all of the main character’s favorite video games. She moves “as if dragged by a mouse” and she has her memories stored on a CD. The world is interesting, very mysterious with all sorts of random creatures popping up.
I liked the videogame parts and the quirky characters, a dragon, a rocktroll, MC’s friends, and an NPC companion. There’s also a memory loss/finding yourself theme that I enjoyed. But the main theme towards the end of the book is facing your fears and while that’s a very good theme, I felt it was delivered a little too preachy. But it’s probably that it just reads differently for a younger audience, it says 9+ on the cover.
It was an easy read, and had cute illustrations, but I found the merging of fairy tale language and computer language a bit awkward as it included english and romanian words. I realize that’s very hypocritical of me though since I usually use a lot of english words myself. Overall I didn’t love it didn’t hate it.
