Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in.
This week’s prompt is an easy one, which is great because I’m too into my book atm to do much. I’m currently listening to The Curse of Chalion and it’s so gripping I’m finding it very hard to focus on anything else.
So, quickly so that I can go back to stressing over my book:
- Rip-Off short story anthology edited by Garned Dozois – each story starts by ripping off the first line from a classic work. I liked some more than others, favorite was The Lady Astronaut of Mars, review here
- Sourcery by Terry Pratchett – I relistened to this last month, the Tony Robinson narration is lots of fun, even though Rinceiwind is not my favorite arc
- Beautiful by Juliet Marillier – lovely fairytale retelling from the POV of a troll princess coming into her own, review here
- Touch by Claire North – a great and interesting urban fantasy ghost-murder-mystery chase across Europe
- Witchmark by CL Polk – a romantic mystery in an alternate world Edwardian London-like city, with lots of bicycles review here
- Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu – the original sexy vampire story, review here
- Home (Binti #2) by Nnedi Okorafor – part two of the Binti trilogy of novella, anAfricanfuturism tale of a sort of magic mathematician in space, well, except home is set on Earth , review here
- Sabriel by Garth Nix – necromancers using their powers for good, to put the dead back to rest + cool cat, review here
- Kindred by Octavia Butler – a modern day black woman time travels to her family in the antebellum south, it’s a great book but not easy on the feelings
- Faycalibur by Liam Perrin – follow up to Sir Thomas The Hesistant and the Table of Less Valued Knights, a witty and heartwarming tale of a young man trying to save his village
Faycalibur sounds really interesting.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Ooh I want to read The Curse of Chalion too😁 But as far as your list goes, I see lots of books I haven’t read yet but want to!
Curse of Chalion is so goood, I’ve been meaning to get to it for ages. Finished it yesterday and I think it’s bringing on a hangover, hard
Kindred was such a good story, too.
My TTT .
Until this week, I never realized there were so many books with one-word titles. I need to read Kindred. I’ve heard a lot of good things about that book.
Haha, it was a bingo square on reddit fantasy a few years ago, there are a lot of one word titles. (This year it’s 7 word titles, fewer of them)
I really recommend Kindred, only it’s far from an easy read
