Stacking The Shelves is hosted at Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
This is my fist time participating and despite my plan to slow down book buying in August … well.. here goes
I got The Last Herald-Mage by Mercedes Lackey because the r/fantasy mods practically gave me no choice but to read Valdemar. I tore through it in a week and it left me ugly crying, loved it.
August is Women in Translation Month so for the Book of the Month book club over on r/fantasy we’re reading Kalpa Imperial by Angelica Gorodischer. I’m very behind because of my Valdemar binge, but I’ve read a third of the book so far and I’m loving the storytelling feel. Here is our midway discussion.
I finally got round to ordering Raybearer by Jordan Ifuenko as a physical book, because look at that cover. I’ll be reading it for the Tarot Black Lives Matter Bingo, here are my bingo plans. Since I’d rather pay for 3 more books than shipping I also got Maya and the Rising Dark by Rena Barron (preorder) and A Princess in Theory by Alyssa for BLM bingo, and Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton because I’ve been putting it off for ages.
I signed up for the Goldsboro SFF membership to get Andrea Stewart’s The Bone Shard Daughter with stenciled edges, very excited about that one but it will probably reach me in about a million years due to current shipping issues.
I’m a member of GSFF too and I had forgotten that Bone Shard Daughter is one of the picks. It’s the October book, right? I can’t wait 😁
September for Bone Shard, oct is Ashes of the sun which I saw you already reviewed. It’s my first month with them, hope all goes well
LOL I signed up for GSFF for the Bone Shards Daughtry too. 😀 I kind of wanted to start in August to get First Sister, too, but they were all sold out. So yeah, I guess I’m a member now for the time being!
I was unsure about First Sister cause it got very little buzz, but then everyone who read it loved it, so I’m kinda kicking myself
