Goings-On

We’re going on holiday! We decided last week, that’s we’re going on holiday next week! So 2 weeks to plan an entire holiday, is a bit much, but we realized if we didn’t go now we might not get to go anywhere this year, so we’re planning a very last minute, socially distant, vaccinated and otherwise safety compliant trip. But also trying to finish a month’s work in two weeks and deal with a bunch of stuff like doctor’s appointments and shoe shopping that we’ve put off all year and suddenly need to do before the holiday. I was very productive Mon-Wed and tired and out of comission Thu-Fri. Oh and trying to walk and get into some shape, and I’ve started a dress because I always like to sew one item of clothing before a trip. So yeah, busy, and I won’t be blogging a lot through the rest of the month.

Books read

  • Night Shift Dragons (DFZ, #3) by Aaron, Rachel – this was so much fun, and another series I’m caught up with! I’m not sure if more books are planned here, I thought this worked well as a series end too

Currently reading

  • The Relentless Moon (Lady Astronaut Universe, #3) by Kowal, Mary Robinette, yes this is so very good, I’ve been putting it off cause I was worried I might need to remember a lot but it’s very good and filling in stuff and the story is gripping. I also like the new PoV character a lot
  • Her Magical Pet: Benefit F/F Story Collection by Brown, Rachel Manija – I’ve only read one story but it was so cute and sweet
  • Djeliya by Ba, Juni – a graphic novel, enjoying it a lot
  • Too Like the Lightning (Terra Ignota, #1) by Palmer, Ada, I have no clue what’s going on, but I’m enjoying it a lot!

  1. We want to plan a trip this summer, but our son and his family came to stay with us when their house sold quickly, and we have to wait until they get moved to their new home. I want to visit a place that has cool weather, and it is really looking hot in the western part of the US, so I’m not sure where we will go.

How fun for you to make a new dress for the trip!

I just got back from a 2 week vacation. There is another week left for this year so I’m figuring out where I want to go, probably in Dec.

Like Deb, I want to go somewhere cool. Florida has been really hot and humid.

I hope you have a great week!

Ooh how fun! Have a great vacation! I’ve heard good things about that Rachel Aaron series too…

This too is the response I’m expecting when I finally get round to trying TLtL

  5. Lexlingua says:

Too Like the Lightning came heavily recommended by author Jo Walton, so I’ve had my eye on it for a while. Glad you’re enjoying it, sounds promising!

  6. Literary Feline says:

I hope you have a great vacation! My husband and I talked about it and decided we will wait until next year to take any real vacation. We have enough going on this summer anyway so it’s probably for the best. Night Shift Dragons sounds like a lot of fun. I am glad you enjoyed it. I will have to check out the series. Have a great week and rest of the month!
