You know the feeling, you’ve read a book and it was amazing, usually not well known, and you need to get everyone to read it! And then later whenever someone mentions that book and tags you your heart bursts with joy? Maybe your friends start recommending it to people in your name when you’re asleep because they know the obsession is strong?
I’m sure there’ve been more through the years but most recently I’ve got two books that really made me want to scream about them to everyone (who would be into that sort of stuff):
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
It was love at first sight for me with this book, it just clicked with me right from the start and in every way. I think one reason was the way Bree deals with her mom’s death felt so real and much more relatable than how fantasy books just often have dead parents as a … default setting. And then how the book wove together historic and contemporary issues of racism while being a fun and magical book all through, chef’s kiss.
I’m almost kinda glad I’ve finally seen a few people who didn’t like it as much, cause it was getting susspicious, there’s no book that everyone likes, was I living in a simulation?
Stariel by AJ Lancaster
This is a very fun, sweet and bingeable historical romantic fantasy series that was exactly what I needed when I needed it. I love the tone, the style but mostly the characters and the fact that they actually talk to each other. I love how it plays around with romance tropes and grows more and more epic in scope with each book, the more we learn about fae. I love how dangerous and mysterious the fae are.
Stariel oh Stariel, yes indeed. We need more fans for this underhyped series!
Can confirm you are living in a simulation.
Stariel looks like a lot of fun. I’m not keen on romance but it sounds like a series I might enjoy!
