The Vampire Knitting Club by Nancy Warren

So yeah. COSY MYSTERY is a thing that exists and now that I know this, I NEED IT IN MY LIFE.

The Cosy and Cute factors:
There’s a scene, around the beginning of the book where Lucy goes to the shop next door which is owned to sweet old sisters to have a cup of tea, to make herself feel slightly better. This is when I shuffled around in my blankets and really wished I had some hot chocolate on hand, cause this was gonna be a comfy ride.
There’s an adorable sassy little black kitten, that follows the MC around a fair bit (though there are scenes in the book without the cat, this is an outrage). She’s very soft and she purrs, and she loves tuna.
There’s a group of vampires sitting in circle knitting amazing sweaters in the dead of night. At least one of them is a sweet old lady. I dunno, this book with the sweet old ladies, I’m expecting some Arsenic and Old Lace stuff down the line. As someone who’s said “I had enough of vampires in my Twilight years” – I was wrong, I’m sorry. These vampires are great. And so are their sweaters. Book should have pictures and knitting patterns, I’m half tempted to take it up.

The main character was pretty relatable to me, 27 year old who doesn’t know what to do with her life after a failed relationship – been there. That said, she was alright but I didn’t think she’s the most memorable person. The sophisticated vampire guy, and the dreamy mcdreamface detective though …. they were pretty nice.

I liked the mystery part, it took a bit to get started, which I didn’t mind at all as I was just soaking in all the cute and cosy stuff. We know that gran’s undead from the blurb, but takes a while for Lucy to get all the info. I thought there were enough false leads and other little mysteries to interesting. I should say I’m never good with solving mysteries in books as I’m more of an in the moment reader than a think ahead one.

I read the book in two sittings (only because I was pretty late in the evening when I started). I’m saving the rest in the series for when I need a pick-me up, it’s a very fun easy read, the sort of thing I need from time to time.
