Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in.

I confess, I completely forgot what day it is. My mind is all Covid19, I’ve only left the house to go to the supermarket since Friday. But, this week’s theme is Spring To Be Read, and since I’m trying to read what I own, this was pretty easy.

The name of the game is comfort. I’m  playing it safe, I’m pretty reading slumpy atm, can barely go through a few pages of anything before I feel the need to check the news. So, playing it safe, sticking to authors I know or that I’m reasonably sure I’ll like.

Paperbacks:

Space Opera by Catherine Valente

I’ve been meaning to read this all year, it sounds like the sort of silly fun that might cheer me up

Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett

I find Pratchett’s kind Death very comforting, I’ve read the entire Discworld series before, but I’m doing a slow reread atm

This is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

I can’t believe I still haven’t read this, at this point I’m a little worried I might have overhyped myself a bit, but we’ll see.

Ebooks:

The Brightest Shadow By Sarah Lin

I got an ARC for this, it’s really interesting, but a massive a chonker so I’ve taken a little break for it to read a novella for now, just cause I’m being so slow I need to feel like I’m making progress. The world is super interesting though, and so are the characters, just.. so big.

We Ride The Storm by Devin Madson

Ok this might not seem like a comfort read, but it’s a reread for me, I already know most of the bad things (there are some changes in the trad pub version, dunno what). I’m pretty good about dealing with doom if I know what’s coming, and I super need to know what the new whoresassin chapter is

Spirit Caller novellas 4-6 by Krista D. Ball

The MC in Spirit Caller is really relatable to me, and I’m very much looking forward to getting back into this world of great friends and positive relationships, and ghosts.

Audio:

The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

Already started this one, I really like the cast they are so sweet, and it all seems very chill so far, which is a great bonus.

All these Worlds by Dennis E Taylor – Bobiverse 3

A fun book and hopefully a safe bet as I’ve already read books one and two and they were a blast.

Will Destroy The Galaxy for Cash by Yahtzee Croshaw

Another sequel, a full-blown space pirate comedy with super fun narration.

Graphic novel:

Saga Brian K. Vaughan

I read volume one way back when, but never got round to reading the rest. I find graphic novels easier to concentrate on when I’m distracted, so it is time.

  2. This Is How You Lose the Time War was not my favorite Sci Fi novella of all time, but it was pretty good!

And I NEED to read Saga. My husband has the big collector’s edition so it’s just sitting there waiting for me. lol
    My TTT!

Lol, I find big collector’s editions much harder to read. Sure they are pretty but so uncomfy. Yes, I’m looking at you complete illustrated Earthsea.

  3. I really want to read Space Opera and This Is How You Lose the Time War! And I LOVED Saga, and A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, so hopefully you do too!
