Self-Published Fantasy Month – plans & TBR

September is Self-Published Fantasy Month, hosted by Jason Aycock from Off The TBR, Elizabeth Tabler from Before we go blog,  Justine Bergman from Whispers & Wonder and Calvin Park who hosts the Under a Pile of Books

I’m trying out this “having a schedule” thing on my blog, so here’s a very non-comital list of self-pub posts I’m planning on this month

  • Self-Published Fantasy Month – plans & TBR  check
  • Review: Spirit Caller by Krista D. Ball  – 04 Sept – scheduled, oh yeah, I got this
  • Self-Published Fantasy Month – recommendations – 07 Sept
  • Top Ten Tuesday – Self-Published Fantasy Covers – 15 Sept
  • Can’t Wait Wednesday – Self-Published Edition – 23 Sept
  • Review: A Ghostly Request by Krista D. Ball – 25 Sept

My reading is far too all over the place for a firm TBR, but I’m planning to read some of my owned kindle books (no I don’t have too many, you have too many). These seem on the lighter shorter side, and more likely to fit my mood:

From the Shadows of the Owl Queen’s Court (Yarnsworld Book 4) by Benedict Patrick

I really love the Yarnsworld (my reviews here) series, this book came out just a little after I’d binged all the other stories in the series, so it would be nice to read it and actually catch up with a series. I hear that’s something people do

Hustlers, Harlots, and Heroes: A Regency and Steampunk Field Guide Krista D. Ball

Not technically fantasy as much as a fantasy companion. I loved the Food Lover’s guide (my review here), and Krista’s writing is great comfort read material for me

Crux Skullcrusher and the Definitely Evil Sword (Cruxverse Shorts Book 1) by Vichet Ou

A really short comedic fantasy I got on sale, really short is my jam atm so will give it a try

Kicking Axe and Taking Gnomes: Klondaeg Books 1-3 - Kindle edition ...

Kicking Axe and Taking Gnomes: Klondaeg Books 1-3 by Steve Thomas

I’m a much bigger fan of Steve Thomas’ other protagonist, Darruk Darkbringer (you can see my review of Mid-Lich Crisis here), but I love Klondaeg’s sentient battle-axe with a split personality, so I’m here for the fun shenanigans and banter.

River of Thieves by Clayton Snyder

I picked this up based on Esme’s review: This read kind of what it would be like if you were reading more stories about Locke and Jean except one was a woman and the other one kept dying and then coming back from the dead as part of the heist fuckery. This is a story that centers around heists, there’s lots of creative cursing, and the banter is similar in tone and jest. There are chapter titles such as: “The One Time a Horse Almost Fucked Me”, and I Kind of Miss the Dick Spiders”, and “Dolphin Orgy” This is, however, it’s own thing in its own right.

Goodreads / Amazon

A few books that I’m looking at but haven’t yet bought (so reading them this month depends on how good I’m feeling about my book buying ban)

I’ve been slacking on my self-pub reads this year, so it’s great to have a motivator, I’m on my first book, Demon Haunted, and areally loving it so far!
