Goings-On

This week was BUSY! But in a good way! The thing at work I’d been stressed over for a month seems to be over and worked out well. Had a long weekend last weekend for Orthodox Easter and it helped for catching up on things and getting my shit together.

I’m participating in Wyrd and Wonder, Asian Readathon and A LOT of Book Clubs and Readalongs on r/Fantasy this month. Been blogging a lot, reading a lot and checking out a lot of the Wyrd and Wonder post, they are great,  I use the Master Schedule to browse.

Books read

Picture from my journal, with book titles and progress tracker for each book, colored in for the ones I've read (titles and progress are in the text below). Below the books is an illustration of The Death of Rats riding a raven and a qoute from Terry Pratchett's Soul Music: "Poor Kid", he said. "That's Destiny for you", said the skull. "I don't blame her for trying to be normal. Considering." "Yes," said the skull. "Quit while you're a head, thats what I say."

I have reading PLANS this month! It’s hard to tell because of different book lengths but I think I’m mostly on track? I plan to dig into the Hugo Novelettes this afternoon and that should make me a little more relaxed.

The Bone Shard Daughter – Wyrd and Wonder Readalong

This is my first time participating in a readalong through blogging, so excuse me if I get it wrong. There’s also a Goodreads Discussion for it.

Going to spoiler tag the discussion, although this is only the 1st quarter, I do mention a few things I’d consider spoilers

  1. I’m so glad that the things that were stressing you out have nicely resolved themselves. So glad!

It looks like you are having a fun time with Wyrd & Wonder celebration. Enjoy!

  2. Jackie says:

I watched the Marie Kondo series and just borrowed her book from the library.

  3. Tammy says:

I haven’t checked out the master list yet, I need to do that and visit some new blogs 😁 Have a good week!

  4. Jorie says:

    Hallo, Hallo Dianthaa,

I liked your quickfire responses to the questions – I took a different angle to discuss as I took issues with the bone shard magic itself and the implications therein. I unfortunately had to ‘step out’ of the RAL with my first week’s discussion post (visit to see why) but I decided to participate in the format of the discussion as I did have other things to share – such as how Jovis became my favourite character and how I felt he was quite a reliable character (overall). It was him and Lin which held my eye the most but I just had wished the magic used in the story had been constructed differently and hadn’t taken such a darker turn as that is what upset me the most.

  5. I’m glad you can breathe easier.
Good luck with your reading plans

Wishing you a great reading week

  6. Victoria Hamel says:

  7. Greg says:

I love all the readalongs, and of course Wyrd & Wonder- which, speaking of, I need to hit that master list and catch up! Hope you have fun with all of these!!!

  8. Katherine says:

So nice to get those stressful things dealt with. Always good to feel like you can breathe again! I found Marie Kondo’s book interesting and did get a bit out of it though don’t follow her process exactly. Have a great week!

  9. It’s always awesome when stressful things work out. I hope you have a great week!

  10. I’m also finding The Bone Shard Daughter really easy to breeze through and enjoy! I was initially worried because it’s pretty long for me but now I know I won’t I have trouble finishing it.

  11. Hooray for long weekends! And hooray for Bone Shard Daughter – it is a fast read, for sure, with lots going on but not overwhelming. I think Andrea Stewart has done a great job of feeding in so much context without it feeling infodumpy.

  12. Dianthaa says:

I ended up Konmari’ing everything, everything, that book really worked for me lol.
