Sunday Post: 13 June 2021, Taking it Easy

Goings-On

I’ve been taking it easy since Wyrd and Wonder wrapped up, almost caught up on my blog hopping, read a little, blogged less. But mostly I’ve been playing Demon’s Souls with my bf on the PS5. We only have one game, so we’ve been taking turns each playing our own character through the same areas and bosses, it’s been a lot of fun! And I’ve been frankly obsses with it. We finished yesterday and now we’re moving on to the new Ratchet and Clank which seems to be pure chaos and lots of fun.

Books read

After some very structured reading in June I’m trying to take it easy, make a little more progress on catching up with series and slot in a few comfort reads.

  • The Left Hand of Darkness (Hainish Cycle #4) by Ursula K. Le Guin – I’ve made no progress since I missed the bookclub deadline, I’ve got about 100 pages to go, hoping to make a dent in that today.
  • Pet by Akwaeke Emezi – read for mod book club, loved it, thought it made me cry a lot
  • Murder by Other Means (The Dispatcher #2) by John Scalzi – sequel, it’s fine but I’m not feeling it
  • Act Your Age, Eve Brown (The Brown Sisters #3) by Talia Hibbert – just started last night, this book is pure joy, absolutely delightful
  • The Vor Game (Vorkosigan Saga) by Lois McMaster Bujold – sequel, this was so much fun, I love Miles
  • Oathbreakers (Valdemar: Vows and Honor #2) by Mercedes Lackey – sequel, I was really not into Valdemar after Oathbound, but this one brought me back, it was great

I’ve only read one LeGuin. My reading has been down, but it looks like you have some pretty good ones going…

Hope you have a great week!

  2. I heard so many “wonder-ful” things about Wyrd and Wonder. I’m glad it was such a great experience for so many. I’m eagerly looking forward to Paris in July. I can’t wait to visit Paris for a month, albeit virtually.

The only Ursula Le Guin book I have read is Wizard of Earthsea. I would love to read more. I have found a lot of comfort in sci fi/fantasy reads during the pandemic.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown looks great, too.

Pet by Akwaeke Emezi And the Ever Brown books are on my TBR. I need to get to them soon. Have a great week ahead.

I hope you enjoy playing Ratchet and Clank. It does sound fun. I have been thinking about digging in deeper into some of the series I am behind in and playing catch up. I haven’t read a Valdemar book in ages. I was really into the series for a long while. I have been wanting to read Talia Hibbert’s work. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!

  5. Anne Bennett says:

Wow. You have so many series going at once. I am impressed. My Sunday Salon post

  6. Lexlingua says:

I’ve hit a bit of a reading slump after Wyrd & Wonder too. Though a bit of Miles should always be around to cheer up a reader. 🙂 And I didn’t know you were into gaming, sounds like fun!

  7. Victoria Hamel says:

I’m currently reading the 1st book in the The Brown Sisters series. Good to know the 3rd book is a joy! Have a great week!

  8. I’ve only read the first Brown Sisters book. I need to get caught up! Happy Reading! <3
