Best Book You’ve Read so Far in 2021

Hahahahaha this tag is cute, thinking I can just pick one. The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri, Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibert, The Unbroken by C.L. Clark, Dawn by Octavia Butler, Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky would make a solid top 5, if I’m really trying to narrow it down.

Soulstar by C.L. Polk – I just loved how it ended the series, it was everything I hoped for an more.

A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark – I have an Orbit UK eARC, so in the time honored tradition of ARCs I will put it off til the last possible moment despite having been excited about it for over a year. This is the way.

Iron Widow – Xiran Jay Zhao – This book sounds wild, and Xiran’s Twitter presence is a gift, so very hyped for the book!

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up – Marie Kondo – Welp, I was not planning to konmari most of my stuff and suddenly become a tidy person but here we are and it awesome

Act Your Age, Eve Brown (The Brown Sisters, #3)

Talia Hilbert – Act Your Age, Eve Brown was such a delight that I need to get the other two in the series into my eyeballs

Malini – The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri – she’s so ughh she’s just perfect ok, the way she’s manipulative but still vulnerable and aaah I love her

A Book That Made You Cry

PetPet – Akwaeke Emezi – this is set in a sort of post-monster utopia, and the contrast between that and reality kept hitting me through the book

A Book That Made You Happy

Amari and the Night Brothers (Supernatural Investigations, #1)

Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Altson – this book made me feel like a kid again, falling into magical worlds

The Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought so Far This Year

Black Sun (Between Earth and Sky, #1)

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse – I loved the artwork for this from the start, and I finally started it this week and the content is living up to the cover.

Books You Need to Read by the End of the Year

cries gets crushed under mount TBR My main focus till the end of the year is r/Fantasy bingo and reading as much as I can of the Hugo nominess, so some really good books planned.
