The Sunday post, Stacking the Shelves and Sewing a Petticoat

Goings on

It’s strange of me to do a monthly wrap-up and a Sunday post in one week, but it’s a busy week! And I realized I haven’t done Stacking the Shelves in a looong time so I felt like taking inventory.

After watching a few historical fashion videos, moslty by Bernadette Banner, and and wearing leg warmers instead of tights under my skirts for the mild weather, I decided I need a petticoat. So I’m making one, out of ridiculous amounts of fabric. This is the tutorial I’m basing it on, only I’m doing full length, and with bedsheet cotton as the main fabric, and I’m doing pleats instead of ruffles cause I couldn’t get the hang of them. I might add some tulle extra layers at the end if I feel like I want more poof without adding more weight, but I think the current two eight meter long layers I’ve got might be enough poof and most importantly, thermical insulation. My fabric choice was super inspired because it was so easy to cut everything straight along the lines of the design.

4 pictures, the fabric which is white with red flowers and some stripes, old-timey, one of the buttons and many buttonholes for the adjustable waist, one with the cat sitting next to the fabric holding her feets, and one with the fabric laid out on the floor for making pleats.

  1. There’s something about seeing all the new books and audiobooks on your shelves that comforts me. I think it’s the same as when you are raising kids and you hear about someone else having trouble with their teens! It makes me feel like I’m not doing so bad with my sixteen new books in November!

The petticoat sounds like a fun project. I can’t quite imagine what it’s going to look like. I hope you will share your progress with us.

  2. Greg says:

    Ooh fun.

I’ve always thought the Warriors books looked like fun too. what’s not to like about a cat world? 🙂

I need to get the latest Chambers book!

  3. I hope to see a picture of the petticoat once you are done! And you have got so many interesting books!!
