Did I make an entire post just to show off my new shelves that I have been excited about for a whole month? YOU BETCHA!

I’m linking up with:

First, the usual:

Reading Challenges

After last month’s trying to DO ALL THE CHALLENGES! this month I’m taking it easy. I’m doing a few posts for Sci Fi Month, and finishing up my yearly challenges. Last weekend I wrapped up my two r/fantasy bingo cards with The Ghost in the Shell by Shirow Masamune for the translated square. This week I’m listening to The Galaxy Game by Karen Lord, which is my final BLM Bingo book.

Read/Currently reading

  • The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste
  • Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark
  • Redemption in Indigo by Karen Lord
  • Drowned Country by Emily Tesh
  • Maya and the Rising Dark by Rena Barron
  • Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett
  • Ghost in the Shell by Shirow Masamune
  • Black Girl Unlimited by Echo Brown

Currently reading:

  • The Galaxy Game by Karen Lord
  • Fiyah Issue 16: JOY
  • Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson. I was really unsure if I wanted to read this or not, but I realized that because I’m a mod on r/fantasy if I don’t read it right away I stand a good chance of getting spoiler. So I spent the week reading refreshers for the previous books in the series and now I’m making my through the first 19 chapters that have been posted for free on Tor.com

This Week (and the one before) on the Blog

Sci Fi Month:

Stacking the Shelves

Tracking since last time I made a Sunday Post/Stacking the Shelves

  • Black Girl Unlimited by Echo Brown – BLM Bingo book, already read, it started out really dark but was so hopeful and powerful that I ended up loving it
  • Drowned Country by Emily Tesh – HEA book club book & sequel to a book I’d read which means I finished another series! Sure the series is a novella duology, but this is still a rare occurrence for me.
  • The Half Killed by Quenby Olson – been meaning to get this since forever, and Quenby was doing a sale for her local charity. I’ve always been drawn to this cover:

25719977. sy475

  • Cradle of Sea and Soil by Bernie Anés Paz – the author had a really nice Writer of the Day post on reddit/fantasy,  the book is Puerto Rican inspire fantasy and focuses on a mother-son relationship

And finally:

The SHELVES

I am so excited to finally have these up! And so pleased with how they, look, and the fairy lights make such a big difference. I really hope they don’t end up being a fire hazard. Also, Tarja has been inspecting them thoroughly and she approves. My workspace is a million times nicer now than when I was just looking at a blank wall.

I know you’re all trying to zoom in on the book titles, so I hope this helps:

Top right shelf is my hardbacks. mostly read, top-left is comics, manga and some non-sff. Middle shelf is entirely read SFF. Bottom right is planners, diaries, notebooks and bottom left is chaos, some read, some unread, some dnf, SFF, non-SFF, madness.

Shelf in the living room only has my SFF TBR:

So that’s about it, really happy this weekend, hoping to spend a good part of the day today catching up with blog stuff while glancing at my shelves.

Love those bookshelves! It seems the cat enjoys them too. I really love adding lights to shelves like you have done, it just adds something special to the whole mix. I want to read Rhythm of War at some point, but first I need to read the previous books in the series.

Of course, if there’s something to be seen, there’s a cat ! Mine is just beside my computer now, waiting for me to leave the keyboard and finally taking care of what’s important : her ! I’ve read Ghost in the shell years ago, I have the anime on DVD and I need to read Terry Pratchett soon (other than Good omens, which I read and loved and own). Happy reading !
