Goings-On
We had a nice autumn for once! We don’t get that a lot, but it was warm and sunny for most of the month, I got to do a lot of walking and some seeing my friends.
Therapy’s been helping, I’ve gone out with my friends a few times, mostly on outdoor walks but we also saw Dune. And I’ve weighed myself and realized why nothing fits, so I’ve been doing more daily walking and light yoga. Weather was absolutely lovely this October and I’m really glad I got to enjoy it some. Also had lots of fun carving pumkins, and I want to get started on sewing a petticoat.
I think I may be in (another?) reading and blogging stuff. I’ve fallen behind on my reading plans, not kept up with the Hugo readalong as I’d meant to and my bingo plans are starting to look too ambitious. I just can’t seem to focus on anything but comfort reads. I’ve also been struggling to post anything on the blog, caught in a loop of endless procrastination, which I’m trying to break here.
I had fun with pumkins:
Books Read
-
The highlight of the month was A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny. It’s a short book where each chapter is a day in October, so we had a readalone with chatting about a chapter/day, it was so great. Also the main character is a dog called Snuff who’d a very good boy.
-
Cetaganda by Lois McMaster Bujold, another entry in the Vorkosigan saga, fun and wild as always
-
The entire Mage Errant series by John Bierce – fun YA magic school progression fantasy
-
Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold, another entry in the world of the five gods, loved it too
-
The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle – horror novella since tis the season, enjoyed it a lot
- Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron – a dark YA, I liked it a lot and I really want to get to the next one
- The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones – a dark but kinda still cosy feeling YA if you don’t mind all the zombies
- Familiars and Foes by Helen Vivienne Fletcher – a cosy witchy novella with ghosts and two service labradors!

I love your jack o’ lanterns! I did carve any pumpkins this year and I’m sad about that. Hope November is a good month😁
Your pumpkins are spectacular! I like all the teeth. My one pumpkin is still sitting uncarved outside my front door… perhaps I’ll crack it open soon to get the seeds, at least.
Love your jack-o-lanterns! We didn’t carve any this year and I missed out. I’m glad your therapy is helping and that you are taking time to get out and enjoy moving during the nice fall weather. I enjoyed seeing the spooky books you chose to read during October.
