Goings on

It has been a while. I don’t know why, but I haven’t been up to blogging much this year. First, it was being very behind on my plans and reviews and then that started feeling insurmountable to the point that I spent a good long time not even being able to look at the blog. But we’re trying out 4 day work weeks on alternating weeks at work, and I’m hoping to use my extra day to focus on hobbies, even it I only end up with a post every other week.

I made a sort-of costume since last time, a mermaid-inspired outfit that I wore to London Comic-Con. It was supposed to go with something mermaid scale tights but London was so cold I had to bring out the heavy-duty ones.

We had almost a 2 week trip in Bucharest, London and Zurich, it was lots of fun and I got to meet some blog buddies! Edit: I almost forgot, while packing, I packed my kindle’s charger but not my kindle! It was awful! I was 2 days without a book till a blogger friend I met in London brought me emergency books to pick from! On holiday with nothing to read! The horror

Book stuff

For most of this year I’ve been obssessed by Foreigner by CJ Cherryh. I recently finished the 21 book series and this makes me sad, I want more. I heard is working on more so that’s great. I made a squee post about half way through. It does seem to be the year of the series, I’ve also made good progress on Valdemar by Mercedes Lackey. I’ve finished Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko and caught up with Paladin’s Hope by T. Kingfisher, made progress of Wayfarers by Becky Chambers, read 2 of the Athena Club by Theodora Goss and currently on Cute Mutants 3 by SJ Whitby.

Because of that I have no made much progress on my bingo card(s), you can’t reuse authors on a single card so I can only use 3 of those 21 books. I haven’t set any themes for myself this year cause reading has been so chaotic so far, and none has emerged yet, but there’s time.

TV stuff

I have been watching A LOT of TV recently. It’s my lowest effort hobby so yeah. Some recent series I’ve binged and recomend:

  • Our Flag Means Death (belover queer pirates, so campy)
  • Heartstopper (aww)
  • First Bite (lesbian teen vampire show by VE Schwab)
  • (not recent but I watched it this week and it was so much Disney Descendants)
  • Russian Doll season2
  • Arcane, ofc
  • Stranger Things season 4, though the pacing is pretty weird for it

Some recent posts you might have missed:

I’m also watching Stranger Things Season 4 and yes, the pacing! The longer episodes are bothering me and they do throw off the pacing. I’m still enjoying it though.

Bucharest, London, and Zurich — sounds like a very interesting choice of places to visit. Plenty variety!

I started First Kill, I think you called it First Bite, this week and am loving it! Very Buffy-esque. I love your mermaid outfit! Looks fun and much more comfortable than the actual mermaid costumes that are straight and taper down to your feet. Hope you have a good week!

Sounds like a nice trip. I just finished Stranger Things 4 and liked it, although the episodes are long and the cast being so spread out does disrupt the pacing, I think.

I’ve only read the Morgaine series by Cherryh but really enjoyed it.

  5. I’m so glad to see you back here blogging again. We have all missed you and we’ve missed seeing what you have been reading.

How wonderful that you were able to take a long trip to Bucharest, London, and Zurich. I’d love to visit those places.

I’ve just started Becky Chambers’ second series. The second book in this series is coming out next month.

  6. The trip sounds like so much fun! (Kindle aside… That was tragic!!) and welcome back!! Sometimes blogging can be a struggle, and taking a pause it can do wonders!!

The costume is very pretty and the trip sounds amazing! I always pack my Kindle for vacations but am usually too busy during the day and tired at night to do more than watch a little tv and go to sleep.
